Philosophy

Weekends from 20 of September till 5 of October

  • Yoga History and Background: Overview of the origins and evolution of yoga, including key historical figures and texts.

  • Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita: In-depth study of these foundational texts, focusing on their philosophical teachings and practical applications.

  • Ethics and Lifestyle: Exploration of the ethical guidelines (Yamas and Niyamas) and how they can be integrated into daily life and teaching practice.

  • Modern Applications: Discussion on how ancient philosophies can be applied in contemporary settings and understanding the role of a yoga teacher.

Anatomy

Weekends from 1 till 16 of November

  • Basic Anatomy and Physiology: Fundamental understanding of the human body, including the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, and circulatory systems.

  • Biomechanics of Movement: Detailed study of how the body moves in relation to yoga asanas, emphasizing safe and effective alignment.

  • Injury Prevention: Strategies to prevent common yoga-related injuries through proper alignment and modifications.

  • Functional Anatomy: Practical application of anatomical knowledge to enhance teaching skills and support individual student needs.

Asanas and Adjustments

Weekends from 6 till 21 of December

  • Posture Breakdown: Detailed analysis of key yoga postures (asanas), including their benefits, contraindications, and variations.

  • Alignment Principles: Guidelines for proper alignment in various postures to ensure safety and effectiveness.

  • Hands-On Adjustments: Techniques for providing safe, respectful, and effective physical adjustments to students.

  • Use of Props: Instruction on how to incorporate props to support and enhance the practice for students of all levels.

Teaching Methodology

Weekends from 24 of January till 8 of February

  • Class Structure and Sequencing: Designing balanced and coherent yoga classes that progress logically and safely.

  • Cueing and Communication: Effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills to guide students clearly and compassionately.

  • Theming and Philosophy Integration: Incorporating themes and philosophical teachings into classes to enrich the student experience.

  • Adaptation for Different Levels: Techniques for modifying classes to accommodate students of varying abilities and experience levels.

  • Creating a Safe Space: Ensuring an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.
